Getting started
First, create your user account in Edro 3D or sign in with your existing account.
Once signed in, you will access the Project Manager. The Project Manager lists all organizations you are a member of, and its projects. Below, you will also find the individual projects you have access to.
If this is your first time using Edro 3D and you don’t have access to any projects, the “New organization” dialog will appear, allowing you to create a new organization.
Click the New Project button to create a new project. Give it a name, and click Create project.
An empty project will be created, and you will be added as the “owner”. Next, you can import a 3D scene:
You can also keep reading to learn more about how projects work in Edro.
Structure & terminology
Section titled “Structure & terminology”A project consists of a 3D scene and a set of showcase settings, which together define what will be displayed and how users will interact with your showcase.
You can use the editor to upload or update the 3D scene, modify the showcase settings, and deploy the showcase.
We call showcase to the user-facing side of your project. It is the combination of your 3D scene and the showcase settings, ready to be shared via link or embedded in a website. It works independently from the editor, so you can freely make changes to the project in the editor, and these will only be applied to the showcase when you set it up again.
Projects are grouped into organizations. Organizations have a list of members (with associated permissions) as well as any purchased licenses. Permissions assigned at the organization level are inherited across its projects. This means that a user with editor access at the organization level automatically has editor permissions in all its projects.
Sharing projects
Section titled “Sharing projects”You can share your project with other users and collaborate in real time. You can do this at the organization level through the relevant organization’s Settings dialog on the Project Manager screen. You can also do this for individual projects in the Users and Sharing dialog, which you can access from the top right of the editor.
In both situation, Edro 3D defines 4 roles:
- Players can only see the showcase once set up
- Viewers can access this editor but can’t make changes
- Editors can access this editor and make changes
- Owners also can change share settings and delete the project
You can add specific users by their email and assign them a specific role. These users must register in Edro 3D with the same e-mail before they can access shared projects.
Public access
Section titled “Public access”At the project level, you can enable Public Access so that a project grants anonymous users viewer or player roles. In both cases, any anonymous user can access the showcase, but the viewer role additionally grants permission to see real-time edits to the project in the editor.
Public access must be enabled to use an embed code.
